About the American Society of Furniture Designers

Founded in 1981, ASFD is the only international non-profit professional organization dedicated to advancing, improving, and supporting the profession of furniture design and its positive impact in the marketplace. Professional Members specialize in the design of both residential and contract furnishings and accessories. Membership includes both American and International professional designers, industry affiliates and associates, design school teachers and students. Corporate Members include suppliers of products and services to the industry and furniture manufacturing companies who wish to support the goals and objective of the Society.

ASFD Corporate Members are a vital component of the Society wherein they keep us informed of the latest trends and products in hardware, materials, systems, mechanisms and many related items. The prospects for success can be profoundly influenced by a designer who specifies these products. Towards this, Corporate members are invited to showcase their products at least once a year at the ASFD conference or banquet held during the semi-annual furniture market in High Point, N.C. to an audience of decision makers who would otherwise not be gathered together. The synergy between designers and Corporate Members at these events offers a unique opportunity to network and gain valuable professional expertise and support.

A free Designer Referral system is offered by ASFD for the benefit of both manufacturers and ASFD professional members. Student members are offered mentorships by participating members. For a complete membership brochure, contact ASFD headquarters; or simply download an application from this web site.
