David Kline Memorial Scholarship



 
Purpose:
 
* To actively express ASFD support for furniture design education
* To encourage students to contribute to our profession
and promote ASFD awareness

Eligibility:
 
Must be currently enrolled in an accredited design program (Does not need to
be a furniture design program)
* Applicant must be currently enrolled in a furniture or design program at an accredited school
* Letter of standing from department head or Dean of the design school
*

The contest is open to all students in North America

*

Applicant must have completed first year of study


Application Requirements:
 
Submit a completed application form
* Submit a design brief of a minimum of 500 words describing submitted project and design objective
* Submit a project based on the design topic for 2006/07. There is no specific project idea; it is the
contestant’s decision. However, entrants must incorporate this year’s design theme using Häfele’s
Tab A Honeycomb connector in the design project using honeycomb material
* Submit a design brief of a maximum of 500 words describing submitted project and design objective
*
* Submit up to four pages of portfolio sketches, photos, drawings, renderings or details of work
* Entries must be received by March 1, 2007

Scholarship:
 
* The judging is holistic and considers the students overall understanding of the design process and
not just the projects sketches and pictures
* The awards will be presented to the winning students by Häfele America Co. at the ASFD Spring Furniture Market Dinner on March 27, 2007 in High Point, NC.

Award Amounts:
 
This years' awards will be:
  First Place - $3,500.00
Second Place - $1,000.00

Third Place -  

$500.00
